European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Rise in Thursday Trading

11:19 AM EDT, 08/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were higher late Thursday morning, rising 1.22% to 1,444.66 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications company Nokia (NOK) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which rose 2.7% and 2.6% respectively. They were followed by ING (ING), which was up 2%.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by furniture maker Natuzzi (NTZ) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS), which fell 3.5% and 1.8% respectively. They were followed by accommodations booking company trivago (TRVG), which was down 1.7%.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Verona Pharma (VRNA) and NuCana (NCNA), which advanced 5.2% and 5% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL) and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), which increased 4.5% and 3.7% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies TC Biopharm (TCBP) and Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), which lost 3.3% and 3.1% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Trinity Biotech (TRIB) and National Grid (NGG), which were down 1.5% and 0.8% respectively.
