SIGA Technologies Wins $9 Million Antiviral Drug Procurement Contract From Defense Department

04:47 PM EDT, 08/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- SIGA Technologies (SIGA) said Wednesday it received a roughly $9 million order from the US Department of Defense for its antiviral drug TPOXX, also known as tecovirimat.

The order comprises mainly oral TPOXX and a small amount of intravenous TPOXX intended to protect military personnel against orthopoxvirus risks, such as smallpox, the pharmaceutical company said.

SIGA said the procurement contract award is its third from the defense department over the past three years.
