11:12 AM EDT, 09/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were falling late Tuesday morning, declining 1.60% to 1,457.09 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical company Sanofi (SNY) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS), which rose 2.6% and 2%, respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator Telefonica (TEF), which increased 1.9%.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical companies Cellectis (CLLS) and Genfit (GNFT), which fell 5.8% and 5.5%, respectively. They were followed by petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR), which 4.7%.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies TC Biopharm (TCBP) and Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), which advanced 12% and 4.6% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA) and pharmaceutical firm Silence Therapeutics (SLN), which were up 4.4% and 3.3% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech (TRIB), which lost 16% and 6.5% respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Group (BHP) and software firm Endava (DAVA), which were down 5.5% and 4.9% respectively.
